About Us

Our Story

We are Sharon and Aleja, lifelong friends and founders of CasaLatina, a brand that celebrates artisanal traditions and produces sustainable homewares from Colombia and Venezuela.

We follow an ethical production model that has developed its own supply chain, fostering ancestral techniques and working in collaboration with a talented team of artisans to co-design and handcraft our range. As a result, each one of our pieces is 100% handmade and responsibly sourced from the magical lands of our childhoods.

We value those who maintain the living heritage of our traditions, leaving a social legacy we take great pride in with designs that embody a hopeful future of reconciliation and prosperity.

Co-Founder

Sharon

Growing up in the vibrant city of Caracas, Venezuela, Sharon has spent the last two decades living in London. A mum of three, mathematician by education, retailer by trade and Chef by passion, she has spent her career surrounded by pots, pans and food.

CasaLatina is the culmination of a decade-long dream.  A project born out of nostalgia, a love for bringing people together around the table, a passion for design, and an obsession with all things handmade. But above all a desire to showcase Latin American talent.

Co-Founder

Aleja

Aleja was born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia, and for many years has been a citizen of Paris and London. She has a  background in anthropology and political science, and has worked for leading human rights and development NGOs working with indigenous communities and internally displaced minorities, to help create stable environments for economic well-being and peace.

CasaLatina is a wonderful opportunity to not only bring beautiful, sustainable and handmade products into the world but to also make the world of these artisans a better place – a world in which their skills are valued and in which their welfare is at the forefront. Sharing, in this way,  her love for the artisanal handcrafts of her country, along with their cultural and ancestral significance.

"Join us in our journey through the artisan route in Colombia and Venezuela. Together, we’ll  unveil the land, connect with the people, dance to the beat, savour the flavours, and revel in the aromas of this magical corner of the world. "
